Career mistakes… and a few accomplishments

Success stories are usually told at the end. I mean, they kind of have to be to know if success was achieved.

But sometimes it’s worth hearing a story midway through, and that’s where I find myself right now.

I’ve been at the bottom.

Like, the lowest bottom of the bottom one can get.

Now, I’m living a comfortable life; a life for which I worked my a** off for. Yet, I’m still making moves to continue my upward trajectory.

That being said, I’ve made some career mistakes along the way. Those decisions ultimately lead me to quit my job and go out on my own.

The Bottom

I was one of those late bloomers. I didn’t finish my undergrad until my late 20’s because I just didn’t know what I wanted to do with my career.

I mean, honestly, what 18-year-old does?

I worked as a personal trainer in the mornings, took a full course of classes during the day, and was a cocktail waitress late into the night.

I was physically and mentally exhausted at all times. Every day was a struggle just to exist.

But I survived to graduate and got my first “big girl” job.
